Oak Class
Class teachers - Mrs Aellen and Mrs Welch
Welcome to Oak Class
We are a happy, hard working class of Year 6 children. We enjoy a creative curriculum packed full of interesting things including topic work and science experiments, themed days and Forest School.
The children have weekly homework and Creative Curriculum homework. The Creative curriculum homework is designed to help the children to extend their knowledge about our topic and to practice their oracy skills when they present it in front of the class. Children complete several tasks over the term, presenting their work on each of the homework hand in days. (See the grid below.)
Weekly Maths homework is set on a Monday and marked in class the following Monday so make sure you bring it in on that day. Learning spellings is also part of the weekly homework. These will be tested every Thursday where new spellings will also be given out. The year 5/6 spelling words are available at the bottom of this page and are included in some weeks spellings tests. The children are expected to be able to spell these words by the end of year 6. Being able to recall all the times tables up to 12 x 12 is an expectation by the time the children are in year 5. Being able to recall these number facts quickly has a huge impact on the children's maths skills, especially when we learn about fractions. All children in school have access to Times Tables Rockstars and Arithmagicians so they can practise at home.
