February 2018 Building News

From Clay to Steel

Following a particularly cold and wet new year, throughout which our building team at Mineralstar have been absolute heroes, the groundworks have been progressing. We are 'blessed' with very thick clay soil, making drainage difficult in this weather. However, fortuntely this is a relatively small build site and we are powering on!

You may hardly have noticed but during the half term holiday, the Early Years shed came down and the start of a trench has been dug, as a route through from the front of the school, under the garden and will eventually complete its journey around the site to provide services to the new building. The team rebuilt the shed - including a new base which had begun to rot over the years - and created a bark pathway so pupils could access the outdoors again. Eventually, the grass area will be reseeded.

The crane arrived for a brief visit and the steel structure is in place, which really makes the scheme even more of a reality.

Other highlights of the month have included the discovery of a Time Capsule from the Year 2000, and the return of our Site Manager, Ash; we are delighted that mum and new baby are safely home and thriving.
