December 2017 Building News

New Build Project

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mineral Star as the chosen contractor of our new build.

Mr Palmer and Mrs Fraser are currently making all the health and safety preparations, repairs and reinforcements to create an alternative entrance into school from January 2018. The pedestrian gate will remain the point of entry from the pavement, but from 8.30am each morning, the car park gates will be closed and from 8.35am Mr Palmer will act as ‘Banksman’ to guide you safely from the gate opening next to the school front door, across the car park to the side entrance so that everyone will walk through the Acorns outdoor area, through the narrow opening at the corner of Acorns classroom and onto the playground. It will be a squeeze and we will be depending on everyone being respectful of the Early Years equipment set up for learning, but I am confident that we can manage this graciously as the ‘means’ to a very exciting end!

Parents and Carers collecting pupils at the end of the school day will have safe egress across the car park, in exactly the same way but without Mr Palmer’s services, as the car park gates will be shut from 3.20pm to 3.40pm.

Odd Sock Day at Christopher Reeves Primary School to Celebrate National Anti-BullyingWeek

Last week here at Christopher Reeves Primary School, we held an "Odd Sock Day" as part of the National Anti-Bullying Week theme - All Different, All Equal.

We are all different in one way or another it may be our size, colour of our skin, our religion or what interests us.  Difference is something to celebrate, not to separate us from people we meet. So we looked at how we can accept and embrace people's differences. We can learn from people around us from their interests, cultures and religions. The whole school took part the children and staff alike!

Visit  To Nene Valley Railway

Recently, Years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 visited the Nene Valley Railway at Wansford.  This tied in well with our inventions topic, 'Ideas That Changed The World'.

The Volunteers at the Nene Valley Railway were very knowledgeable and gave us lots information about railway inventions.

Pictures will be coming shortly.
